Episode 35 – AI is drilling into all aspects of our lives

In this edition, the top news starts with:

AI has started making first-person shooter levels for games.  This is done using a set of two systems; where one generates, and one checks to see if what was generated is like one done by humans.  Eventually, this should lower the bar in terms of engineering effort to create new games.

The NSA has upped how much data it is getting, in terms of phone records in the US; helping to provide the new machine overlords a great base to work from in overseeing right thinking by humans.

Google’s “improved” assistant that came it out with validates our theory that they were ahead in voice and that Amazon had a narrow window to catch up, which appears to have just closed.  We would mention that Google’s AI passed the Turing test; but, that is not a real milestone that is meaningful.

Google is relaunching its news service to provide better AI curation and help prevent fake news.

The Allen Institute for Cell Science in Seattle has released a new cellular AI modeling system.  The hope is to understand disease at a cellular level.

Microsoft announced a new machine learning platform at its BUILD conference.  This new platform aims to make machine learning easier to adopt and easier to build new models.

A blockchain cryptocurrency project is going into beta this coming week that aims to make this sort of technology easier to adopt by the consumer.  Philosophically, Divi aims to bring this kind of technology to the masses and drive mass consumer adoption.
